It’s that time of year again: Bordeaux Primeurs 2017

Once again, Bordeaux will be opening their cellar doors for a taste of what’s to come. It’s a time to sample and put your senses to work in order to determine the year’s best wines.

As 2017 took a hard hit to a late-April frost, this primeurs is very important. Who will have pulled through, and who will have not? I’ve got a jam-packed schedule to find out just that. Beginning on Monday, April 9, I will begin a week of tasting more than 300 wines. Though it sounds like a wine lover’s dream (and it kind of is…), it’s also hectic and requires planning ahead. 

However, the planning is done, and now all I need is perseverance to taste and guide you through the 2017 Bordeaux vintage. Here’s a snapshot of what’s to come:

10:20 a.m. - Tasting Château Cos d'Estournel, Saint-Estèphe. 

11:00 a.m. - Tasting Château Ormes de Pez, Saint-Estèphe. 

11:30 a.m. - Tasting Château Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac. 

12:00 p.m. - Tasting and lunch at Château Pontet-Canet, Pauillac.

11:00 a.m. - Tasting Union des Grands Crus de Margaux  at Château Siran, Margaux. 

12:30 p.m. - Tasting and lunch with Château Pichon Baron, Pauillac.

2:00 p.m. - Tasting Château Latour, Pauillac.

3:00 p.m. - Tasting Union des Grands Crus de Saint-Julien at Château Beychevelle, Saint-Julien.

7:00 p.m. - Dinner and tasting at Château La Lagune, Haut-Médoc.

Wednesday, April 11

12:00 p.m. - Tasting Union des Grands Crus de Pomerol  and lunch at Château Gazin, Pomerol. 

2:00 p.m. - Tasting Château Angélus, Saint-Émilion.

2:30 p.m. - Tasting Château Cheval Blanc, Saint-Émilion.

3:00 p.m. - Tasting Château Vieux Château Certan, Pomerol.

3:30 p.m. - Tasting Château Canon, Saint-Émilion.

4:00 p.m. - Tasting Château Ausone, Saint-Émilion.

3:00 p.m. - Tasting Union des Grands Crus de Saint-Émilion at Château La Couspaude, Saint-Émilion.
